Egg upping credit limits?

in Credit cards
Hi,
I've been looking in to PPI and found some letters from Egg. I was really struggling to pay off the card and over my limit for long periods. They used to send me letters saying they have increased my credit limit without consent, which I ended up struggling even more with.
Are they allowed to do this or is this something I can claim against. My account is riddled with missed payments and being over my credit limit. The agreed limit was £750 but ended up being nearly £1000 from them increasing it.
Sorry, I don't know too much about these things so thought I'd ask here.
Thanks.

They increased it, but you didn't need to spend it. You can't take any action against them for overspending.
Go to the DFW board if you need advice on how to cut costs and pay back faster.0 -

Yes, you can put in a claim and they will send you thousands of pounds. That is assuming they also forced you to spend the money of course.0 -

haha, just wondering.
It's the upping the limit on a struggling account which I was curious about.
I've now got the account in order and cut up the card ages ago.0
