hi
We are due to buy a car, and am going to put it on cc.
Now does this count as a cash purchase? or goods?
If cash, could anyone tell me where to find cards that let you have 0% on cash
thanks

Neither cats nor cars counts as cash - they are both purchases.
But the main issue is whether the seller of either the moggy or the motor will accept a card, or charge a premium if they do.0 -
Lol,hitting the keyboard correctly is not my strong point . Thanks for the advice.
Car place charges a fee as the the bank charges them it, but he did say do a bank transfer as this may not incur a fee.
Any info on this so i can go armed to our bank
thanks0 -
You'd need a card that allows a money transfer to your account (ie an MBNA card). But the card will then charge you 3-4%, so it would probably be the same or more than the dealer.0

See i always thought buying a car would be classed as a cash advance, reason being years ago a garage told me this.
But you are definite that it is a purchase, thus would get no fee(apart from the one the garage adds on) and i would then have 30 days(or whatever it is) to pay it off before i get interest charged.
thus if i put it on a card that stated 12 months interest free for purchases the i would have 12 months of no interest or fees(apart from the initial garage one) , as am i correct the banks don't charge a fee on purchases
Sorry its the 1st time that i am doing a purchase rather than B.T0 -

No his visa/mastercard charges him a fee for using the service. Not your bank.....
So there is not point going to your bank to say anything about it.
A car is a PURCHASE not a CASH transaction.
If you want ANY FORM OF extra PROTECTION from CCA.....
DO NOT DO A BANK TRANSFER
A bank transfer is just cash to the retailer.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

I've paid a £1000 deposit on a new car on a credit card and it was definitely not classed a cash advance. You need to check the dealer is happy to accept the full payment with a credit card and what % they will charge you. BMW wouldn't accept more than £1000 from my credit card even though I offered to pay a % (there was no charge for the £1000). Not sure why and that's only one dealer.0 -
My local dealer won't accept credit card payment for anything other than the deposit. Probably something to do with the percentage they have to pay.....Practically Perfect in Every Way......:grinheart0

We haggled with the dealer we bought our car from about the cc charge and we didn;t pay it,.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I've done this twice for over £5k a time to 0% cards. Paid a small % to the dealer but otherwise no problems.0
