Cannot reattach recess light fitting :(

Oh dear!
The bulb in the outside porch recess lighting blew last night. I couldn't get the bulb out and so pulled on the fitting to lower it, i removed the bulb, replaced the bulb and now i cannot reattach the fitting!
I push the fitting back up into the plasterboard, but i cannot feel for anything for it to attach too.
Any ideas on how to secure the fitting or have i stuffed it?!

recessed fittings usually attach via springclips on the side of the fitting. you push these flat against the side of the fitting so they go inside the hole in the ceiling and when the fitting is fully 'home' the clips drop down to secure the fitting against the hidden side of the plasterboard.0

it may be that the clips have got detached from the light and are still in the ceiling - have a feel around0

will get the torch out later, otherwise it's getting superglued in.0

I think we need a picture to help...."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

will have to get one later then as currently at work.0
