Electricity night reading not increasing?

Hi

I've noticed the last 6 months or so when taking my electricity meter readings that the night reading hasn't increased at all, obviously the day reading has.

I've just recently changed my electric package to the Scottish Power Online Fixed Price Energy April 2014 (No Standing Charge)

Can anyone explain why this is happening?

thanks

I would suspect a fauly meter unlesds you switch everything off at night. Need to call your supplier asap.

  • I would say the likely cause is that the meter is not changing over to the night register at the appointed time and so all use is being recorded on the day tariff.
Do your day readings seem high?

What sort of meter do you have ? one where the changeover is done by a radio signal or the older mechanical ones with a clock?

If I am correct you must get onto your supplier to get the meter changed, well do this anyway as there is obviously some kind of fault with hte meter.

ralphy, this definitely sounds like your meter is not switching to the night rate as it should and it needs to be replaced. If you e-mail onlinecomplaints@scottishpower.com we will arrange this for you. Thanks David @ ScottishPower

Are you using E7 cheap rate overnight, i.e. do you have night storage heaters and an immersion heater?

    Thanks for the info guys.

Just finished speaking to Scottish Power, the night meter reading has not worked since 11th September so they are sending someone over in a couple of weeks to sort the meter out, then they will refund me whatever i've been overcharged for the last couple of months, so a good outcome all round!

    Thanks again peeps
