Overseas card with 0% purchases

in Credit cards
Hi,
I need to book some flights with an overseas airline and the payment is taken in Hong Kong dollars. I Would like to make the purchase with a credit card offering 0% on purchases for a period of 7 months or more so I can delay the payment for a while.
Can anyone suggest a suitable card for this?
I only need a credit limit of £1500 and have a good credit rating.
I was going to go for one of the best buys offering 0% purchases but worried about getting stung on the currency conversion charges.
Many thanks

Opps maybe this question is a bit sophisticated for the 'experts' on these forums?
Might as well do the research myself and keep my questios to a more basic level :rotfl:0 -
Ha ha ha.. well it was hardly a "sophisticated" question, but it is one that's hard to answer. Nobody wants to say "there isn't one" in case they get proved wrong by a subsequent poster.
I doubt there is one - there aren't many that offer loading free purchases - Post Office, Nationwide Select, Halifax Clarity are the obvious ones. Post Office usually offers 3 months on purchases.
If 3 months isn't enough - then you're probably best off then paying the 3% BT fee to transfer the purchase to a traditional card. You can often get 18 months - so with the 3 months on PO, you could get up to 21 months for your 3%.
But if you can reveal something through your own research, then you will certainly be an 'expert' !0 -
Thanks Chappie you have rekindled my faith in this forum!
I was going to apply for the Halifax Clarity card for my overseas spending anyway so I guess I can do this early to book the flights and then BT to another with zero interest for my desired period. Just have to suffer the 3% BT fee.
I'm afraid I'm no expert and been unable to find one to meet my requirements so I would tend to agree that this doesn't actually exist...
I wonder if I will be proven wrong by others on this forum? Hope so

You originally said 7 months or more. So lets say you get 3 months on PO, then perhaps you would have paid back part of the balance during that time. So though the BT would be 3% (typically), this would be on the reduced balance. If you had managed to pay back half the balance, then your fee would only be 1.5% in terms of the original transaction. Not so bad.0
