Thank you bothWe actually got a phonecall today, have a viewing booked for tomorrow. Trying to not get my hopes up. No wonder people say buying/selling a house is so stressful!

Good luck with the sale - it'll all be worth it.

Once again, it's been a while.
So what's been happening?
The house was sold a couple of months ago, to the 3rd viewer, for 98.5% of the home report value. I was very happy to be proven wrong on my usual pessimism.
The sale wasn't 100% without drama, most of it due to FTB misunderstandings/nerves. It culminated in the buyer trying to sue us and then disappearing into the woodwork red-faced.
Very glad that is all over!
Unfortunately, since January my husband has been experiencing symptoms which rapidly got worse over the past 6 weeks. It's been a rollercoaster, and now he's been diagnosed with 3 separate genetic diseases. One of them will need life-long management and injections, and one of them has caused a permanent, incurable disability.
My only silver linings are the NHS, that he's not in any pain, and that my job has been very flexible and kind.
Bit of a downer to post, sorry. I don't know how this will affect our finances in the future, with the possibility that he may not be able to work etc. Having to take it in the very short term for now, but once everything settles down, will be able to start making long-term plans.
I will probably hang around here a bit, but I'm unlikely to post much.
Hope everyone is well,
Cal x0 -
From what I was posting yesterday, I thought that I better do a calculation of net worth, so we know where we stand.
CURRENTVALUE Cash: £38,000.00 Pensions: £6,869.90 Car Value: £3,000.00 S&S: £3,071.80 Student Loan: -£22,293.47 Total: £28658.23
Student loans still hasn't updated for the year, so this is actually 2017 vales. Same for pension amount.0 -

Thanks SSSWe're in the process of getting him registered as sight impaired just now, and speaking to work and college to see if it's going to be feasible or practical for him to complete his college course or continue to work. Once we know the level he is classed as and have advice from a few appointments next week then I'm hoping we'll know more for the future.

I hope it's good news on the severity front Cal.
Is your husband a computers guy? The same kind of thing as you? If so maybe a high contrast screen setting could help? He could end up looking like the coolest retro hipster if he used a matrix style green on black screen... I reckon there could easily be a pay rise in it as he'd look like he really meant business behind a keyboard!
Best of luck at the appointments0 -
Oh my Cal! What a time you've had. Good to see you back.
Big hugs

Thanks SSS. I got him a tablet so he would have more real estate, we're talking over size 100 font and about 30cm from his face before he can read anything.
We're hoping he will get classed as the higher level (legally blind) so that we can get more support to be honest, the effects are certainly bad enough.
However, I am that cool person at work with the Matrix-style terminals :cool:Fortune_Smiles wrote: »Oh my Cal! What a time you've had. Good to see you back.

I'm doing a couple of paintings for the local WI show at the moment but that's all. We moved last year and there's been so much going on I haven't had the chance. I'm hoping to pick my brushes up again in the summer... if it ever gets here.
