Possible subsidence?

Hi, I'm new to the forum, but have read good things about the plethora of topics it covers and its wide userbase, so I thought I'd give my question a shot here.
I live in a first floor, rented flat. In my kitchen there is a crack that spans from floor to ceiling. Here are the bullet points.
I have been in the attic and checked, it is not in breeze blocks. As such the crack must not span higher than the ceiling.
I have looked outside, but see no cracks externally.
The cracks have been there since I moved in 2 years ago, but have changed little. Though it is hard to tell.
I haven't asked my downstairs neighbours as they are alcoholics and as a result rather surly and unsociable.
The crack is quite deep, I can stick a bent-straight paperclip 3cm into the widest part of the crack.
There is no flat above me. I am on the uppermost floor. It is an end-flat, with the outer wall facing a carpark.
There are no trees or bushes on that wall either.
Also of note; the crack does not seem to start wider at the bottom like most subsidence, but is rather widest at the top 3rd.
The crack doesn't seem to follow a "brick" line. from the ceilling it goes down almost straight for 3 to 4 feet, then turns left for 2 feet, then goes straight(ish) to the floor, passing through the cooker plate socket.
Please see attached photo's. Please forgive me for the state of the kitchen, but believe me it was worse when I moved in. The previous tenants were rather dirty.
Also, I have had a recent flat inspection by my letting agent and my partner did raise these concerns about it. The chap took some photographs and that was the last we have heard about it since then.
We were thinking of contacting them again, but as I'm not too sure about the severity of the crack I'm unsure as to whether I'm fretting about nothing.
Many thanks.
I cant post pictures yet as it says I'm too new a user, so I will post them ASAP.
