I'm booked to do this over the next few weeks.
It's free for me, but hours of time!!!de do-do-do, de dar-dar-dar0 -
Sorry to hijack this Liz but maybe I could ask an additional question for the thread as to how useful an ECDL is out of curiosity? Has anybody who has one found it to be hugely beneficial or not?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

If you plan on using it to get into IT, I doubt it will open any doors. I certainly wouldn't pay anyone to do it, just buy a book or use the internet instead.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Just had a look at a sample EDCL CAD test. I wonder if it's worth it just to take the tests without training. The actual syllabus seems a bit simple to be worth actually going on a course for."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I thought I would give it a go a couple of Months ago.
The first three exams took less than 10 mins each without completing any of the training. Seriously basic stuff!!
The next ones I find tedious and can't really bothered with.
In word, If I want to Cut or Copy, I select the word then right click it
Or
Ctrl C
Or
Click the Cut or Copy button
What I NEVER do, is go throught the Drop down menus.
This goes for Tab spacing (click and drag the squares)
ECDL insists that you take the steps Their way
Although the questions aren't difficult, I would fail it by not doing it the correct way.
I suppose it is a bit like driving, after a while you take shortcuts and pick up bad habits. Doesn't mean you can'd drive, but you would fail the test.
I have serious doubts about how useful it is. But without it, how does an employer know you know anything about a PC?
It's a piece of paper, worth doing if you're bored but I wouldn't pay!
I just left mine after the first three (which gives some kind of certificate)
Perhaps I will do the rest if I get bored again.0 -
I'm required to sit all of the modules for my job - nothing at all to do with IT.
It's just CV fodder.de do-do-do, de dar-dar-dar0 -
Hi - does anyone know how i can study the ECDL and do the exams for free?0

apparently it is reconised in abourt 140 plus countries and as I am working on emigrating I felt it useful the have a certificate to proove my computer skills as mostly self taught and have been self employed - so hopefully will help me get a employed position so i can get references etc.I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0
