Everyone seems to be sending their dvds recorded these days

Just goes to show how many how been scammed by the ridiculously easy "I haven't received my item" trick (when in fact they have received the item). I don't blame sellers.
Problem is, I think sellers are scrimping on the packaging in order to pay the extra cost.
Plus there are a lot of sellers who advertise £2.25 as the delivery fee then in the listing state it as 3.65 as they need to add recorded. Isn't that against the rules? Shouldn't they state "carrier" or "courier" or something?

I don't send out anything recorded and I don't have any INRs - recorded doesn't protect against genuine loss. So they are really just putting people off rather than encouraging purchases. The scam is easy in principle, but most people don't bother in practice.
You are also right in that it is against the rules to put one postage cost on the listing then advertise another in the description. It does equate to first class recorded but to be honest, the loudest and most direct way of sending them a message is not to buy. But there will still be takers, a percentage of whom will probably mark them down on the DSRs or report them for violating the rules - so really, all you need to do is let market forces take their toll and move on to someone who is behaving sensibly and within the rules."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Additionally, a DVD, if packed sensibly, can go as a large letter - you don't need to charge first class either. A box set can go at small packet rate which is 2.20 2nd class so if you use start price to package the item (easy as box sets tend to go for more than ordinary single DVDs) and dispatch promptly you can get everything into the cap without impact on DSRs."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4
