Are Too Many Insurance Searches Bad???

Is it true that too many car insurance searches are bad for your so called credit rating.(dont ask me how) Can this be true, or is it just a myth as i suspect ? Can you perform unlimited car insurance searches with no affect to your rating or any other type of record???

Surely there is no way to record quotes, unless you mean credit searches to pay it monthly?

Insurance quotes are definately recorded on your credit file,it amazed me to find this out although it was a couple of years ago now, I would also be very interested to find out if they have an adverse effect on credit rating, although I suspect they won't.

If they do, I will be snookered as I used Confused.com, Moneysupermarket and the insurers own websites numerous times over the past few months while buying a car!

Looking at my Equifax report, searches did not show - on Experian a few (not all - only Royal Sun Alliance and Admiral/Elephant) showed as Unrecorded Enquiries. I think that they would only appear formally when you actually apply and there is credit involved (ie monthly payment rather than payment outright)?
