With nPower moving 30th November

Hi All,
Just wondered if anyone could offer me some advice?
We are currently with nPower for both our Gas/Electricity. The house we live in at the moment is a 1935 terraced house which costs a fortune to keep warm/heat. However we move on the 30th November to a brand new house and am looking forward to hopefully lowering our energy bills. With the expected price hikes from all the energy companies I'm looking maybe to a fixed deal for either 1 or 2 years. I know that nPowers prices go up as of the 26th Novemeber so I'm keen to get something sorted before we move. Would it be possible to get a fixed deal for our new home to start supply on the 30th?
I've noticed that the uswitch website asks for current energy consumption; but obviously this relates to my current inefficient home and not my new house, does this make any difference to the company I should go with?
Thank you

There have been several threads on here where home movers have not followed the correct procedure and mostly it has led to problems.
It is unlikely that you can start a new supplier on 30 Nov. What you must do is register with the current supplier when you move in giving them your details and the meter readings. You will then be their customer, but will be free to start a switch immediately. You will of course receive a bill for the short period you are with the original supplier (perhaps about 4 weeks).
So you can do some research now so you will be ready to switch as soon as is possible. Unfortunately most if not all of the good fixed tariffs have gone but it could still be good to fix, only you can decide.
Also when you move in it may be that the current supplier can offer you the best deal, if that is the case then you may be able to get fixed on the 30 Nov.
As regards consumption for the comparison sites, as long as the new property has gas heating you can enter the national average figures of 16500 kwh gas and 3200 electric. This will show who has the cheapest deals but will not give you any idea of your future costs, only time will tell on that one.0 -
As above. You will be in a deemed contract with the existing suppliers, you can't commence a switch until you have registered with them first.
Yes, NPower prices (and everybody else's except Eon) are going up, but the available fixed tariffs have already been adjusted to take that into account. All the cheap fixes ended 6 weeks or more ago now, so you will not be able to get any of those. No free lunch, and no free laptop

The fact that npower's prices go up on 26 Nov has nothing to do with your move, unless you already know that npower supplies your new place as well! You will have to register with whoever currently supplies your new place and then switch if you want to.
You will be paying a few pennies more for the last 4 days at your old place.0
