I appear to have lost the data on my calendar. Does anyone know how to restore calendar from iCloud backup?

Did you backup correctly before?
You can go onto https://www.icloud.com to see if the data is still there.
If not go to Apples Support page where step by step it will tell you what to do...

You can just choose calendar if its only your calendar details missing.
If its other things, restore all.
