I have been told that you can claim Working Tax Credit if you are self employed is this correct?
Also the IR are insiting that I owe them almost £3,000 from an overpayment in 2003/2004.
Would the IR offset what I am entitled to now against what I owe?
A lot of questions I know, but all help much appreciated.

As long as your overpayment is from a current ongoing claim then they can recover it from your current entitlement. However if your original claim was terminated for any reason and you have had to make a new claim then no they can't recover the old overpayment from the new claim. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
