self employment and WTC

I have been told that you can claim Working Tax Credit if you are self employed is this correct?

Also the IR are insiting that I owe them almost £3,000 from an overpayment in 2003/2004.

Would the IR offset what I am entitled to now against what I owe?

A lot of questions I know, but all help much appreciated.

As long as your overpayment is from a current ongoing claim then they can recover it from your current entitlement. However if your original claim was terminated for any reason and you have had to make a new claim then no they can't recover the old overpayment from the new claim.

Yes you can claim tax credits if you are self employed.

I'm not sure about the other questions though.
Here I go again on my own....
