OP, Merseyside to Hull is very doable in 3 hrs but to avoid the idiots on the m62 in the rush hour i would leave at 4.30ish, this will give you plenty of time to get to the hospital and get yourself settled before you arrive on the ward.

Merseyside to Hull is very doable in 3 hrs!! - I should think so. Liverpool down the M62 to the A1 junction (Ferrybridge) takes me just over the hour - add another 30mins to Hull!! The M62 is a fantastic road, just get into the far lane and keep up with the car in front.

I do Manchester to Brighton via M60/M62/A1M/A14/M11/M25/M23 - 325 miles in 4 1/2 hours!!! The A14 is the killer with the average speed cameras, but apart from that, the rest is just wide open road.

My BIL who lives in Grimsby drives to Manchester for a night out and drives back again. It only takes him just over 90 mins each way.

I don't know what car you drive or how you drive, but to do that in 3 hours I would have be stopping halfway for a cup of tea!

My hospital is 300 miles away (Liverpool University Hospital, Prescott St - Brighton) which I go to every 6/8 weeks for check ups.
I do that journey in one day.

Leave home at 9.45am, arrive at the hopital at 2.15pm, then get the return train at 6.20pm which gets me home at 11.00pm.

    And your point is?

OP is attending hospital for an operation which is due to take place in the morning. At the time she would need to set off, the trains are not even running!
