    T_T,

    some of the options above sound like hundreds of pounds expense, it is only a garden shed not a retreat from family life where I can relax have a few brandies and read a good book.

    I'll have a look at your option, failing that I'll have to go with the flashlight.:D

    Actually the battery oporated solution should work. My daughter used to have one as a reading light and it was powerfull enough.

    Use rechargeale batteries (because they will eat up batteries) and your good to go. my daughter used to get one night out of hers if she left it on - so a good 10 hours per set of batteries which should be fine in a shed.

    The electric cable to my garden shed is taped to a catenary cable for support. It has been there for at least 25 years without any problem becoming apparent.
    I can afford anything that I want.
    Just so long as I don't want much.
