Mine stopped working about 2 months ago, I think it's knackered.Just for one moment, thought I'd found my way.0

Have you tried taking the ball out and cleaning all the gunge off the wheely bits inside?
Nope, ignore that....that's not going to help with a wheel problem.
You need someone who wheely knows what they're talking about0 -
And if you are buying a new one, buy an optical mouse with no ball0

Hmm, actually my desk is completely white and my optical mouse works great.
If I take it out my Samsung M40 and plug it into an old Apple Titanium Powerbook G4 then its not so accurate. I don't think its the surface, but the power output of the USB ports.0 -

But light surfaces reflect more light than dark ones, that is what makes them light! I am using my mouse on a white A4 piece of paper!
And if you're going optical go wireless as well - but make sure you get a rechargeable mouse - or at least use rechargeable batteries and buy a separate charger.0 -

Thanks for all the suggestions, but it seems okay now, don't know what happened last night but it seems to have righted itself when it was rebooted.
