I agree Mr Skint...the words "considering cancelling order" will usually be enough to persuade Dell to..consider keeping a customer!0

... unless of course your system is being custom-built?0 -
I would certainly ring them an explain to them that you may cancel but would perfer if possible free delivery as a gesture of goodwill.

Legally you do not have a leg to stand on. You entered into a contract to buy the computer at the advertised price and agreed to pay the postage. However, it is always worth asking them for refund on the postage.0

She still has the distance selling act, however that would mean sending the goods back and wouldnt achive anything in the way of savings.

I don't think thats what distance selling regulations say, Paul!
Yes, they don't have to give you free delivery; but you could just cancel anyway providing the product isnt being custom built?0 -
Dell have an option in there system which goes through there system status of when the goods are going to be despatched, surely if its still early on she has the option to cancel as you mentioned

You are right of course, but I think the problem is that she will have to pay to return the goods if the company has already dispatched them. I suppose when she does receive them she could use this as a 'bargaining tool' as the company has already paid postage to send the goods to her. So they may just offer to refund the actual delivery charges at cost.0 -
The only thing is, aren't all of Dell's PCs "custom built" to order? In which case you can't just cancel.0

I think Dell would try and argue otherwise!!! :cool:0
