How early is too early to pay CC bill?

I remember getting stung not too long ago paying my credit card too early, I thought I was being very organised paying it two weeks early, then my due date came and I got a call from my CC company. I later changed the bill date to be closer to my payday and it wasn’t an issue again. I now have a Nationwide CC and paid off…
