student insurance cover

Am I better off to get independant cover for my child's personal possesions when living in uni. accomodation (Hall probably) or rely on my household cover which allows for items away from home, please ? He's not likely to have very costly stuff there, but will have cash and bank stuff.

It depends what policy you have.

More and more household insurance products will start excluding student possessions whilst away from the home.

Check what cover you get, the item limits and then see if its worth it.

Thanks Flamecloud. Looks like I need to check the small print in my current cover.
