UK Only delivery

Hi

I added an item on ebay auction stating uk only delivery 2nd class recorded.

The item was won by someone in Spain?

How does this happen?

On this occasion I will send to Spain but obviously carriage Charges will be more than to the UK

How do I go about this?

Just send the winner the updated invoice with price on it?

What if they aren't happy with the new carriage cost?

I have received a reply saying they will pay £4 for postage.
They won the item for £1 so I will lose money on this if I accept this
    My post clearly says
    Postage:
£3.15 Economy Delivery | See details

    Item location:
    Aberdeen, United Kingdom

    Post to:
    United Kingdom

    Delivery:
    Estimated within 4-6 working days

Am I able to cancel this sale?

Have a read through the postage sticky. It will tell you about setting your preferences correctly and also about international post.

As for this sale, if you decide to go ahead, invoice with the EU postage cost.

If you don't want it to go ahead, you will be at the mercy of the buyer and if he wants to cancel.

If your auction clearly stated UK delivery only and someone from Spain bid on it, you should be able to cancel the sale. I would get a price for delivery to Spain first though, and email the buyer telling them that although your auction clearly stated UK delivery only, you can offer to post it to Spain for £<cost of postage> . If your settings do not exclude peoplefrom outside the UK your ads will show outside of the UK and people canthen bid on them if you have not blocked bids outside of the UK, so you need to address this right away.

But if you did state shipping to UK addresses only, I don't see why a bidder from Spain should be able to rip you off - they should have contacted you before bidding, really.

Edit: I don't believe you are "at the mercy"of the buyer - after all, the seller did state that shipping was to UK only and buyer has ignored that and is now bartering on the postage. I would simply explain that the auction stated UK buyers only but that shipping to Spain is X and that is what you will require to send it to Spain. end of.

It matters not the wording in the listing. Your preferences need to be correctly set to avoid non UK buyers, if that is what you want.

You are at the mercy of the buyer as without their express consent, you cannot cancel and be reimbursed the fees.

This happened to me recently also with someone from spain-settings were correct but somehow they got around it and managed to bid. In the end i contacted ebay about it and they agreed that if the buyer wasn't willing to pay 'my quote' for postage to spain then i could open and close a non payment case on them-which happened.

Invoice them for what it costs to deliver to spain if they don't pay then open a case as in my experience they like to barter over postage costs which drives me nuts.
I've had buyers from spain telling me they will only be paying x for postage and no more despite my invoices.

Having just looked at your listing it clearly only gives costs for uk postage so invoice your buyer what it costs to get it to them in spain and like i said if they don't pay then you can open a case.
