first direct - proof of id and address

Hi all,
I'm opening a First Direct 1st Account and I've been asked for proof of address and identity - since I moved home 1 week ago I'm quite sure that my address hasn't been added to the electoral roll yet.
I provided what they asked for, but what I used for proof of id (HMRC tax calculations) has got my old address (which they've got part of the application process). My proof of address of course is displaying the current address - do you think it would be an issue?
Thanks!

I wouldn't have thought so. Since you have informed them of both addresses you should be fine, as long as your credit report checks out.0

Yes it will be an issue as the point of proof of address it to prove you live at the stated address - something with an old address on it doesn't achieve that. Alternatives would be a letter from your solicitor regarding the new house if you've bought it, or a copy of the rental agreement if you are renting the new place.
The proof of address and proof of ID are money laundering requirements and with HSBC making £500m provision this morning for US money laundering breach fines, they will be having to follow the rules to the letter!Adventure before Dementia!0 -

It's only the proof of ID that has the old address, I sent them a water bill as proof of address with the address I'm living in.0 -
Should be OK then - misread the original and thought you were using this as the address proof.Adventure before Dementia!0

The OP may still have problems - strictly speaking they should ignore the address on the name proof but bank may have problems with it.
I suggest you not go into a HSBC branch and get them to copy/certify your passport or something with either no address [or your new address] for your name proof.WestonDave wrote: »Should be OK then - misread the original and thought you were using this as the address proof. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Indeed I've been called and my proof of ID was rejected because it showed my previous address. They weren't talking about going to a HSBC branch - I had HMRC to send a new tax calculation to my current address instead and I'm going to send it to them. Hopefully it will arrive in short period of time...0
