Gutters

Hi everyone,
Is it possible to have my gutters independent from nextdoor?
The problem is that it is blocked and overflowing soaking their house.
I have offered to unblock it when I was up the ladder cleaning my own, (they said what are you doing when I tried to clear all the way along, we will do our own). That was nearly a year ago and their side is blocked which may cause me a problem as my water goes to their downpipe. At the moment mine are fine and the blockage is causing terrible damage to their windows and walls only.
The point is, I don't want to go cap in hand begging them to unblock if it starts to cause a prob on my side.
Can I put an extra downpipe in? This would have to drain onto a low pitched roof and flow down into the gutter on it, but it is on my own property.
Hope people can make sense of the way I have explained this. The idea is, for that section of house, I won't have to rely on his downpipe.
Thanks people, :T

Generally speaking you can do what you like to your own gutters.. presuming they are yours!

Fit your own downpipe.
Just because your neighbour doesn't take care of their house, that doesn't mean you shoud do the same.
The only possible problem could be the new downpipe probably won't drain all the water from your roof and some will still collect in your neighbours blocked gutter.0 -

Thanks you, do you think a short downpipe emptying onto my lower slate roof and into its own gutter will work or does that cause probs for the roof tiles?
Thanks for the reply0 -
Some houses have shared downpipes so if you block one end off you could cause issues for other houses. My house a semi has front and back gutters blocked where houses join but both have own shared downpipes. Like you are check my gutters around once a year. They need to sort there gutters out as you mentioned the blockage will cause issues for them and will only get worse I dread to think what damp they may have inside as a result blockages on gutters
We didn't say block the neighbours guttering off - we said fit your own downpipe!
It will be fine discharging onto your lower roof - not ideal, but fine.

I've seen this arrangemengt on the roofs of a couple of my neighbours, one of whom is an architect (!).
It doesn't look great, especially during periods of heavy rain, but it seems to work.
If possible, I wouldn't have a downpipe emptying onto a lower roof, but you may have no option.0
