That's cause its not a legal requirement to have a spare.

but if you have one it has to be legal.

I don't think that the dashboard light will be an issue as things currently stand and although it's a bit naughty, can you not ensure the boot has been opened from the inside before you leave it for the test?

Not to get an MOT pass - it doesn't, and not if driving on the road and plod pulls you over it doesn't, so all in all that's wholly untrue.

They'd only have reason to open the boot if there's seats in there that are accessed that way (like the rear facing 3rd row on mercs and volvos).

Rear suspension tops normally have caps on to conceal them, so they wouldn't generally inspect the top mounts for play from inside.
but if you have one it has to be legal.

Only insofar as that if it's mounted on the outside of a vehicle (back door of a 4x4 for example), it's securely fitted and not going to cause a hazard to passers-by, for example doesn't have the wires hanging out.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?
  • My boot does not open from the outside. The lock is broken.

Car has passed all four MOTs I have put it through, including one last month.

    Hope this helps.
