Bright colour hair?

I've been working in the Civil Service for over two months now in DWP. My job is strickly phones and involves no contact with customers.
Is it against the uniform rules to dye my hair bright red?

I would have thought that as your job is 'strickly' phones, then I am assuming you will have contact with customers - albeit invisible and they would not be able to see your 'bright red' hair anyway.
Shouldn't you be asking your manager about uniform rules rather that posting on here?...........assuming this is a serious post of course ;-)0 -

Its more of a.. 'spur of the moment' thing. If I go through with it, I wont have time to ask my manager..0 -
Look though your contract, specifically dress code. Some times companies specify that you can only have natural coloured hair (which is ridiculous, and the reason i recently bought a wig to cover my pink hair
)

They probably mean a natural hair colour. Maybe not that person's natural colour, but if someone dyed their hair from grey to brown - brown is a natural hair colour - bright red, blue, pink, green, etc is never anyone's natural hair colour.0

I had blue and purple patches in my hair whilst in the civil service. I was going through a bit of an emotional crisis at the time but my managers liked it rather than telling me off for it. "Spur of the moment" can wait. If you're concerned, postpone and ask your manager first.December 2010 wins - 12 month Four Four Two subscription; Alcatel OT 708 phone; Miffy cuddly toy; Nivea gift pack0

Maybe try going in with one of those spray-in colors first, or a dye that lasts for a few washes. If you are sent home, you at least have the option of an afternoon in the shower as opposed to an afternoon with the clippers and wig shopping0

There are no rules in dwp for hair colour, I change mine all the time and am customer facing they've never had a problem with it0
