Insulation for floor under kitchen worktops

Hi,

I tiled the floor in my new build home but obviously stopped a short way under the worktops as t wasn't necessary or practical to tile further.

It's bare concrete so gives off a bit of a chill so I'm thinking some insulation could help to stop this.

Would loft insulation be suitable? or carpet underlay and some old carpet?

Thanks,

Ben

If it is a new build, it will be insulated already... under the concrete.

I'm sure it is, but it is still a little chilly where there is bare concrete. I will check where the walls meet the floors for any gaps but and recommendations on the best type of insulation would be welcomed.
  • Why is there bare concrete, don't the kitchen cupboards cover them?

If you think that the tiles are insulating (and I'm not sure that tiles really will do much) then why don't you put down some more tiles? From your post I'm assuming this is under the cabinets so any old cheap ones will do. Alternatively perhaps some marine ply and a little glue would do and if you wanted to go overboard some carpet underlay on top though I would worry about what would happen if the underlay got wet.
