The question is basically thus HJT seems a bit outdated (especially with the proliferation 64bit systems) should we be looking towards an alternative , e.g. DDS ?

OTL has similar output to HijackThis for those familiar with that format. It is both 32bit & 64bit compatible, has inbuilt fixing capabilities, is regularly updated and has a public tutorial.

It's open source VB if you want to develop it.
It still provides a quick and useful overview of a system, with a nice layout.!!

DDS, OTL and HJT all have their uses (if similar in so many ways)... no harm in having access to all three IMHO
