For electrical sockets. I've had a few over the years and the mechanical ones make a ticking noise and the electronic ones seem to last about 3 months.

Despite being very much a part of the digital age (and studying electronic engineering); I personally prefer the mechanical ones with the 15mins switches around the dial.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0

I've got a couple of electronic ones, different makes, that have lasted for years, have survived being tucked away in a drawer, unused for years, and when brought out again, work fine every time.....
what goes wrong after a few months with yours?0 -
I've been using one like this for about 4 years & I've had no problems with it.
Depends what you want to use it with though.0
