No you wrap it round the bottom rung of the ramp doh. I just use a piece of old rag to stop the ramps slipping away from the wheels. I also use concrete blocks and drive up on those if I don't need too much height; cheaper (less than £2 a pair) and easier than ramps !0

yep, that's it. Get a 3 foot long carpet offcut, loop it round the bottom rung and lay it on the ground so you drive over 18" of carpet before you hit the ramp.

So how does that work like the rope? - Where the back wheels are on the rope so that the weight of the car holds the ramps from slipping?0

rope will have issues because it won't be straight by default. A carpet is better because it will stay in line with the ramp. But it's !!!!!!!g carpet which will stink it if gets wet and break off from the edges.
I got this from a weightlifting forums, basically weightlifting straps just rip over time, but seatbelts are practically indestructible. Cut off some seatbelt from a breakers, and tightly stitch the seatbelt to the frst beam on the ramp. get the stitching as close to the beam as possible to create a tight noose around it so it stays starigt and alighed with the ramp. Plenty of bacwards and forwards stitching should prevent it from coming off over time.0 -
in my limited experience of ramps (got a proper trolley jack & stands) the problem comes when the car is moving from ground onto the first rung and instead of going up onto the first rung it pushes one or both of the ramps along the ground.
The carpet loop stops that happening.0 -
I got a question with the ramp4cars ramp. Do they need the rope method? or do they not suffer from the loading issues of the steeper sealeys? Some people have got the entry modified to include a flat plate, does that fix the loading issues of these ramps?0

My Ramps4Cars ramps have the flat plate welded on the start of the ramp and they don't slip. When I requested the flat plate, Andy from Ramps4cars said the ramps won't slip but he will weld a plate on for my extra piece of mind.londonTiger wrote: »I got a question with the ramp4cars ramp. Those types of ramps are no use for oil changes, as you mentioned in your original post that is what you want to use them for.
When a car is driven up them, the car will be nose up. My drain plug is at the rear of the sump, So this gets more oil out.
