Can you wash roman blinds?

Is it possible to wash Roman Blinds (the material is washable). If so what do I do about the stringing? They are kitchen blinds and have a slight film of grease on them so brushing won't be enough I don't think.

Hi poet123,
I've always washed my kitchen fabric roman blinds in the bath.
Just fill it up enough to cover the blind put in washing powder and let it soak.
I then hung it outside to drip dry. Came up really good.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, good idea. they were new last year so I haven't taken them down before. I will stick them in the bath and hope the rain keeps off tomorrow!!0

I had some and I put one of them into the washing machine. Not recommended! I haven't tried the bath technique; I got the rest dry cleaned - which was pretty cheap at Johnsons, they charge per metre.0
