Router disconnecting all clients regularly

I have a Draytek 2830n router hosting my internal network, and my Virgin Media Super Hub in modem mode plugged into the WAN 2.
Every few days (I've not managed to spot any regularity to it) all of the wireless clients are simultaneously disconnected; I'm fairly certain that the wired PCs also get kicked off too; and then all have to reconnect.
I know that it is definitely not the router power cycling for any reason as it happened about a half hour ago (twice within the space of a few minutes), but logging into the router I can see its counter showing over 7 days system uptime, and 180-odd hours of internet connection uptime.
I guesses that maybe the DHCP lease time was causing it by being short, so changed that last time it happened, last week. The maximum time is about a month; so the fact its happened about a week later counts that out.
Anyone any ideas what could be the cause?

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Try changing everything to static ips and see if makes difference0

Interesting now I come to check it; neither of the wired devices were disconnected this time (fairly sure they were at least once before, but not certain anymore) - one of which is static, the other DHCP; if that helps at all?
Have set all other devices to static, and will see how it goes.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0 -
I don't know about Virgin super hubs , but I would suggest bengalknights is probably on the right tack, but of course make sure that the Draytek is not getting its IP address via DHCP to from the superhub as well4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . The superhub in modem mode means it literally only passes the cable Internet through to the Draytek. The Draytek negotiates IP etc. with Virgin's servers. Unfortunately they don't offer a static IP service, but my IP hasn't changed in the 7 months I've been here anyway...Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0

I was trying to ask if the Draytek has a static address , as presented to the Hub not to the internet i.e. the draytek uses 192.168.x.y to talk to the hub at 192.168.u.v , but as I said I don't know about the superhubThe superhub in modem mode means it literally only passes the cable Internet through to the Draytek. Do you have the Draytek set up to e-mail you when it goes offline ?
While it doesn't "kick devices off" mine seems to loose connection every few days. It uses ARP information or pinging an IP address to detect if it is on line and I've not got to the bottom of why it does it.
The broader answer, is of course, so it knows to route traffic to the other WAN port, but I strongly suspect the connection is there but the method of detecting presence fails.
Perhaps some help, if you find out why yours does it I would be interested to know.
Still a very powerful router.0 -
The internet connection remains active (according to the router's own stats), and the device does not power cycle. Simply devices are unable to connect for a couple of minutes. Might be only the wireless clients... the static wired PC hasn't lost connection in 4 days (last time I rebooted), while this issue has happened 3 times today...
Unfortunately it happened just a couple of minutes ago, despite all my devices now having static addresses.
Not that I can make an awful lot of it, but I can't see anything that looks out of the ordinary in the syslog files either...Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0 -
Its definitely only affecting my wireless clients. Another just passed, physically went to the wired machines & tested their internet connection and it was perfectly fine.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0
