I've just gone to Argos to get a sx235w but they have give me a xp202. Is it the same printer and will I be able to get the same cheap compatible inks for it? I'm in the carpark and want to check before going home! Thanks

The XP 202 is the slightly better printer, and the SX235W is discontinued I think.
Compatibles are available for the SX235W
Finding the ones for the XP 202 isn't returning much more than out of stock, or one for £144 for ten plus postage

As soon as enough XP 202 printers are sold then compatibles should be available.
Main difference is the number of nozzles

Thanks for the reply

As i could not see the cheap compatibles for the xp202 as I had seen for the sx235w i returned the printer.
Hoping to get the sx435w or sx445w tomorrow at the same price as the sx235w.
Looking at the xp202 I think the colour is a tricolour cartridge and I thought it was more cost effective to go with individual inks?
We have a hp that has one black and one tricolour and the cost of replacing the cartridges is ridiculous. I have refilled them a couple of times but it is streaking and missing print alot now.
My main priority is a cheap printer that is cheap to refill as I like my coupons and the kids like printing pictures to colour in

forgot to say if people are going to argos to get the sx235w be careful as it looks like they have merged the catalog numbers so you may get the xp202. this is fine as long as you dont get it with the ink offer they have running as you could end up with a xp202 printer but ink for the sx235w!0

You did the right thing, its never worth buying a new model Epson, the compatibles are not widely available and each new one gets a bit cheaper made than the last.
They only bring out new ones to shake off the compatible cart. makers for a while until they catch up.
I would get the 445W, its a nicer printer and cheap to run. I have one and also have a spare one (£49 Tesco minus plenty of clubcard points = about £28 for me!) stashed in the loft so that when current one fails... which they all do - I will be able to continue using my stock of cartridges that fit, they are cheaper in bulk so I keep plenty in.
Last time I changed printer had to give away dozens of cartridges because of course wouldn't fit new printer. :mad:0 -
Ive got an sx445 and its a great printer. Its wireless unlike the sx235 and i bought 12 compatible cartridges off ebay which were dirt cheap and work great.4kWp, South facing, 16 x phono solar panels, Solis inverter, Lincolnshire.0

I've got the sx235w and like it. It is wireless and easy enough to link all of my stuff to.0

If you use a lot of cartridges, then refillables are worth a look
The SX235 works out something like this:
£15 for the set of cartridges and £5:60 for the inks. The inks will fill the equivalent of 7.69 sets of compatibles with 13ml of ink per cartridge. So the first set of refills will work out at £2:67 a set. Then as you only need to get the ink, subsequent sets work out at 73 pence.

Best to get syringes with blunt needles, if you cannot source them from a chemist, then this set has them

Another advantage of refillables is if you get a blocked nozzle which head cleaning does not clear, you can fill whichever cartridge with head cleaning fluid and run either purge prints or head cleans with that in.0 -
There are different types of refillable cartridges. Some have a button on the top that you can press to reset them. I prefer the ones with two copper circles on the chip. These ones automatically reset themselves. If not then you touch the two copper circles with a paper clip to manually reset them. Always bought mine from Refill Man dot Com as their ink is also very high quality. It produces good colours and does not block printer.0

Don't mess about with refills.
I've used these inks in large quantities for ages and they are by far the best I've found - You Won't believe the low price either.
Delivery is just £1 if you spend less than £10 and free if you spend over £10.
