Firefox tabs

Update - now sorted
I am having a problem with Firefox not remembering my tabs. Usually the session closes and the next time I open it the same tabs are there.
Today when I closed my session it told me that I was closing 6 tabs. When I went to open Firefox again it brought up a session that I used a long time ago.
If I change the tabs on the session to the ones I want, it still tells me I am closing it with 6 tabs and reopens again with the old session.
My options are set to open with previous session, but I cannot get Firefox to acknowledge the session I want it to.
If I amend the options to say open with a blank tab, it does. But once I have added the tabs I want it still closes saying that I am closing tabs.
I cannot find the answer via Firefox help pages
After about 2 hours of faffing about - I entered Firefox from an email, and this time it opened up on a blank Firefox session and closed down without saying it was closing tabs. I reopened it again, set up my old tabs and bingo - now working properly.
