I've booked 2 weeks off next July and that isn't even in the current holiday year, which ends on 31st March!

I would disagree that it's "very unusual", I would say it's pretty common, although often ignored once someone has worked there for a while. And of course, it is possible to take all your annual leave entitlement, as long as the last day you take off is the last day of the leave year (although if strictly enforced that would only work if the entire organisation was shut down at that time, which could be the case for example if the leave year aligns with the calendar year and the company closes between Christmas and New Year).

No - in the first year of any job it is common practice.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

If you worked 46.4 weeks then you still have time to take all your holidays.;)
