unripe/ready squash?

I have a few squashes on the plant that are not ready (they are still green and a bit stripey) Its cold now, so they aren't going to ripen outside-is there any chance if I bring them in? And if there is-how best to go about it?

You can still eat it green but tastes nicer when they're fully ripe.
Pop it on a sunny window sill and pray for sun if you want it to ripen, but at this time of year it may not happen.
I've had one on a south facing window for 2 weeks and it's only just starting to get a tinge of yellow.

If you harvest them with a length of stem going back to the next
t-junction they should ripen indoors without rotting

I brought in a green-with-a-hint-of-orange pumpkin about two weeks ago, put it on a warm kitchen window and it's now fully orange. Haven't cut into it yet, though, but seems firm enough. As others say, make sure it has a decent bit of stalk left on.

We have got baby pumpkins on our kitchen window and they have turned orange after about two weeks. No problems at all.
