Base for Memory Foam Mattress

Can anyone advise the best type of base to use for a memory foam mattress. I currently have a sprung edge divan base but was considering buying a slatted base when I buy my new mattress. I have been to a bed showroom and all they told me was that it was due to personal preference - not a lot of help then!! Any advice would be appreciated.

It mainly depends on the type of memory foam mattress you are going to use??
Make sure the gaps between the slats are no bigger than 1".
The advantage with a slatted bed when using a latex foam/memory foam mattress is that it provides better air circulation.0
