Way round paying by credit card charge

I looking to pay for a big holiday using my credit card however the charges would amount to over £100!

I want to be covered in all aspects in case anything should go wrong (the travel is ABTA bonded), is there any ways round this? Thanks

Even if you pay £1 towards your holiday by CC you are protected under section 75.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

    Yes

Though it's doubtful if you need the CC cover if the company is ABTA bonded.

Have you tried offsetting some of the card charge by going through Quidco first?

Pay it on your debitcard..... So long as its a Visa debt. If not ask your card provider if you would still be protected.

This is one case where section 75 is miss quoted. If its a Visa credit/debit card that is used. The card provider has a chargeback right to claim the money back if the company goes bust. So will never use CCA75 in these cases.

Why does it have to be Visa Debit? Mastercard debit (and Maestro if they're still used?) has the same chargeback feature doesn't it?

True - but using section 75 does have other advantages. I reclaimed air fares from my CC when the airline went bust. I also got an extra £1000(ish) to cover the additional cost of booking the flights with another airline.
ABTA/ATOL will only get back what you paid.

    This statement is somewhat misleading/incorrect.

Chargeback is a facility which is offered by some financial institutions. It is offered solely as a "goodwill" gesture - unlike Sect 75 which is part of UK Law.

    Two major disadvantages of Chargeback:
It can be withdrawn/not pursued at any time - at the sole discretion of the finance house involved. You have no recourse to Law if the finance house does not wish to help you.
It does have time (120 days usually) and other limitations on it.

Moral of the story: Pay the deposit on your Credit Card, pay the rest as you wish, debit/cash, whatever. If you hit problems, and you have paid at least £100 on your credit card, always use section 75 to recover your losses (which may be more than you actually paid, see my comment to Dzug above !!!) - it is the LAW.

It may be boring, but read what Sect 75/chargeback actually are: NOT from stories in the Daily Mail or even on MSE.
If you wish to totally ignore what I have said above please feel free - it is your money after all ..............

The credit card payment doesn't have to be at "least £100"...you can pay as little as 1p if the retailer will accept it as a "deposit"!

The only consideration (on value) is that the cost of the goods or service is over £100 (and under £30K).
