New sanctions for benefits

Will this not backfire on the DWP? What if it was a family with young children and they were to go without benefits for prolonged times, even if the parents forgot to sign on a few times.
Will they not apply for crisis loans which will always be given if children are malnurished and they are sure to never be paid back if there is no benefit to take it out of?
Seriously what will happen if a family with young children have their benefits cut? Will we once again have starving children begging on street corners?

To be honest, it is the parent's responsibility to ensure that they sign on, it's not a lot to ask. I would be questioning their ability to parent if they persistently forget, to be honest.0

I answered this point when you posted it on the other thread.0

I thought that crisis loans had stopped.
I thought that you were just given food bank help now instead.Life is short, smile while you still have teeth

Maybe this answers it then. But what about when Gas and electric are turned off, will they just be given food bank help?
This means there will once again be poverty in the UK?0 -

Surely, even the most inept parent could not be so stupid? That is akin to forgetting to collect your wages on a Friday. I wonder if the government have an emergency telephone number for people who do that?"There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
gas and electric arent turned off when there is a child in the houshold.
a pre payment meter may be installed, and then it is the parents duty to ensure that finds are available to ensure supply.
why is it the states responsibility to provide for children that people CHOSE to have?
signing on once a fortnight is no big hardship.
and do these sanctions also apply to ctc.... which are paid to provide for the children?0 -
Families where parents are unemployed will be claiming other benefits so they are not going to be left destitute.
I would think forgetting once is all most people will need - they wont make the same mistake.
I dont understand why you feel that people shouldnt be sanctioned. If they cant spend an hour every fortnight going to sign on then what hope is there for them in the working world.SPC #1813

i bet people on benefits dont forget the day that their payment goes into the baank ( i know i dont!)
so why would it be difficult to remember to sign on?0 -
As i have posted on the ops identical other thread.....
It is the parents responsibilty to provide for the children, and therefore very irresponsible to not sign on a'few' times.
Also vey dramatic trying to point the blame of starving swollen bellied children on the DWP.
Malnourishment causes the swollen bellies, again the fault of a irresponsible parent not making sure the children have a balanced diet.0 -
