There is an EEPROM chip, electrically erasable and programable chip which should store the settings and password/encryption. My cheap Netgear stores my settings even though i have pulled the plug on it many times so I can't see how your encryption suddenly got wiped just because the power got cut, unless someone put a pin in the reset switch. Very strange.... Can you tell us the make and model of your router and AP?

I have scanned my street with my laptop and found about 7 open networks. I think the likelihood of anyone doing anything dodgy is very remote as obviously they don't want to shoot themselves in the foot by producing circumstances that will terminate their access.

Keep the log but Don't worry.

I wouldn't worry that much about it. Perhaps you should look at the design of your network so that the Access Points require a little more configuration before they share your network so promiscuously.

Use Ethernet, then you can relax and dont have to be paranoid of some one stealing your bandwidth :)
