  • There's plenty of jobs for 'everyone else', isn't there?

Yep, and after seeing a dozen CVs recently for a finance job a relative of mine was advertising I can see why some are having a hard time. CVs all in CAPS, some obviously hadn't been re-read as there were silly errors in them such as wrong words and incomplete sentences, lone CVs stuffed in an envelope with no covering letter (a sure sign someone is just applying for everything they see), and even a CV written in green ink which was illegible.

With all the help that is out there it's surprising the majority of people going for the job had their CV put in the recycling bin. I mean, if you can't ensure your CV is correct then why should anyone trust you with hundreds of thousands of pounds?

Of course it must be as you wouldn't really ask would you otherwise.

I would report an advert like that like I did one advertising for a female working in a office as they had too many men.,

    I probably would actually :)

    Good on you.

I knew I'd probably get grief with this thread, I always expect it on these forums, but I am happy to hear all opinions.
I had a decent work history before I was ill, but now I've been out of work for 2 years I can't even begin to think how I'll get back to where I was, or anywhere close to it. There's so many people like me in forums for all sorts of disabilities who are desperate to work - and I don't mean full-time work, or even jobs that would give a better standard of living - just doing any kind of small job can mean a huge difference to a person who does not want to be languishing in front of the telly.

... anyway, I guess it is difficult to truly comprehend unless you've been in that situation ...

What's illegal is you call a bunch of illegal immigrants to work for you, discreetly. You give them a false name etc and they do all the work for you. On the day you're suppose to pay their wage in cash, you tip off the police to arrest them. They can't prove you employed them or worked for you. The police caught them in your premise, and looks like they're stealing equipment or something. You refuse to acknowledge you know them and there's nothing those workers can do. Free labour.

Why is your relative showing you CV's? Is it their company?

    Yes, it is.

What would the tip off be? That they were working for you?

Is this something you have tried? Who would think up these things?
  • Yes, it is.

Leeds. The post was filled 14 days ago. And it was advertised on the JCP website.

Oh no where near me and sorry but advertising on the JCP site says a lot.

I know, I did tell them to advertise elsewhere online but the bloke doing the advert thought he knew best.
