hi,
i hope you can help me. I have a ford focus 1.4cl petrol 2002. The EML came 3 months ago and upon plugging my code reader, it gave me p0720, which is a speed sensor malfunction. I changed the speed sensor and it has worked for 8 weeks then last monday the speedometer was not working again:(. The sensor I bought was a genuine ford part. What should I do to correct this problem? pls help.

Is the sensor on the gearbox or diff on that model or on the NSF ABS sensor?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

it is in the gearbox. What I did an hour ago is I remove then put it back the sensor. I also cleaned the connector cable but still not working. Would you reckon if I get a used instrument cluster?0

Get an OBDII reader with live data and see if it shows the speed.
If it does then it maybe the cluster.
No signal then the wiring or sensor is at fault, Or the ring in the box itself.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Don't forget, with a Focus the dash cluster is linked to the EMU and the smart charger system in the alternator. If you changed the dash, you would need to get it re-programed or the car won't work.
From memory, there were issues with dry solder joints on the 2001 - 2005 dashboards fitted to Focuses that stopped them working. If you know someone who is handy with a soldering iron you might want to slip them a few quid to re-solder every joint to see if that fixes the issue.Never Knowingly Understood.
