NCP Car Parks

Why is it their prices are never clear BEFORE entering the car park? The signs are usually right next to the barrier, by which point you are committed to entering as in many cases getting to the barrier is about 200 yards down a small narrow bit of road... or you're simply blocked from reversing out by a) the shape of the entrance; b) other cars behind you.

I know from experience that you get a few minutes grace on a newly issued parking ticket - long enough to drive into the car park and straight back out again if you're not prepared to pay the fees.

I was in and out of Ikea so quickly today (with my purchase!) that the parking was free. Bonus.

I would guess this depends on the car park. I know at least on the doesn't give any grace period, to prevent the car park being used as a short cut.
