How to use less Electricity?

I got a remoska when the energy bills started going up a few years back and it is brilliant! It actually cooks better than the oven, you can do whole chickens, cakes, anything really. Also try no energy cooking, I used a cardboard box with polystyrene lining, even cheaper to run than a slow cooker! http://www.instructables.com/id/hay-box-cooker/step1/get-a-container/Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

Just done the backlight on the tv thank you. Hopefully no one will notice ;-)
My one thing I did which has really made a difference and was certainly a major lightbulb moment for me.....
My old electric fan oven (which I can't afford to change yet ) continues running a fan for at least 30 - 40 minutes after I have turned the oven off (I do leave the door open to ustilise the warm air) I now switch it all of at the wall as soon as I finish cooking and there is a big difference in my electric consumption.Living the dream and retired in Cyprus :j

An easy one is to reduce the backlight level on TVs. They are typically set at 100% which is way too bright, but look good in showrooms.
My 47" LCD uses around 120w now - it originally used 250w. I reduced the backlight brightness from 100% to 30%. Picture looks better too.
This sounds good, how do you adjust it?Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

Is there any way you can get off the pre-payment meter? These are more expensive per unit use than having a metered account where you pay by direct debit monthly0
