Documents after completion

Hello

We completed on the purchase of a property 7 weeks ago and we've not received any documentation from our solicitors. I think I recall them saying at the time that they would be forwarding certain documents on.

What should we expect to receive and when should we expect to receive them? Just wondering if I should be chasing this up yet.

Thanks

Just give them a ring and tell them.

With the many cases they have to deal with yours has probably slipped to the bottom of the pile.

If there's a hold up of some kind then at least you'll know and if they've forgotten you then it will give them a 'boot up the......@!

    Hi

you should get a copy of the land registry entries showing you as the new owners. If there are any old documents relating to previous owners/guarantees etc these should also be forwarded to you.

It can take a number of weeks to register you as the new owners but perhaps you need to chase them now its been 7 weeks and ask what is happening. I wouldn't be too worried though at this stage

It took 3 months for ours to arrive - that was because they sent our file to us together with the Land Registry documents which can take quite a while. I wouldn't worry about chasing them just yet!

I would make an enquiry, but I wouldn't worry too much at this stage. Just make it clear you want everything the vendor provided, as well as the formal legal stuff.

Our solicitor, despite being very good in some respects, didn't forward various bits of non-legal paperwork to us that the vendor helpfully enclosed. We only realised this when re-viewing the questions before contract some months after the purchase. There, with the answers, were clear references to documents in polypockets which we hadn't received.

When we asked, the solicitors admitted freely that these had possibly been binned, not being like the FENSA certificate and necessary. Maybe not necessary, but useful!
