advise needed about a warning

My employer wants to give me a warning for something that happened about 3 months ago. They have been aware of my mistake for a number of weeks and have done nothing about it. The stress, and worry has taken its toll and I've made another silly mistake. Now they are out for me good and proper.

My question is how far back can they go before it is deemed an unreasonable length of time since an incident occurred?

we probably need more info, maybe they made a note of the error, and ignored it, but another mistake as occured so the 2 need to be looked at (especially if they are of the same nature) i would imagine a company could hold anything on record about you and use as a disaplinary or whatever no matter when it occured.. why has it been worrying and stressing you for 3 months? what did you do?
  • I make specialist parts for a company who supply Nassa, NHS etc so high risk stuff. A piece of my work was rejected by the customer for being out of specification. The samples that I took of this job where double check and in spec, so I proceeded. I dont know when the work was rejected but by the time it came to my attention a member of the management team had already scrapped my samples (they get scrapped after 6 to 8 weeks depending on how blocked the sample area is) ever since it has made me anxious. My line manager is not a pleasant chap and at best could be described as a bully. The anxiety and pressure has got me on edge and I have made silly mistakes. I have managed to get a change of shift but the worry is still there as the rumour has been for the last 4 weeks that I'm gonna get a warning or the sack. Does this clear things up?

It's NASA. And was there something wrong with the advice on the other thread you started? You make crucial stuff, whatever that is. You keep making mistakes with crucial stuff and yes, you'll get a warning. If you are lucky. Afew weeks is not an unreasonable time to go back. You need to stop making mistakes. And stop listening to rumours. If they are going to discipline you, they will let you know!

OP, it's always better to keep all your threads about the same thing together so that other posters know the full background.
