Will I only lose my deposit? The salesman assured us it was a holding deposit, and was refundable but the T+Cs we signed state a lot worse than just losing deposit.

It was bought from a Skoda Main Dealer.

Why did you change your mind?They could keep your deposit but may not,depends on the garage.Is it THAT car you don't want ,or any car?If you have signed an agreement it could be a problem but most reputable garages are flexible, especially if you decide to take another vehicle in its place

If you want to buy from another garage,dont tell them that's your intention or they will keep your deposit!!

During the test drive, I noticed a few things on the car, which don't tally up with its ultra low miles, the salesman was very pushy and insisted the deposit was merely to hold the car, then he completed the purchase paperwork without giving a copy of the t&cs to us until after we'd signed. Away from the dealership I've had time to consider everything and wish we'd walked away following the test drive.

I called the dealership today to speak to the salesman who was with a customer but did not call back. I'll send a fax to the dealership on Monday requesting a refund of our deposit.

Losing the deposit isn't that big a problem, it amounts to the difference in fuel and insurance for around 3 months!

Keith,I would still try to get your deposit back ,explain the worries about the car to him or better still the sales manager,if the car is not all it seems they should not be trying to sell it to you by misleading you.

On the other hand, there may be factors that have not yet come to light to set your mind at rest.

I recently bought a car,looked at it, went away,rang the salesman and said i would have it,"right he said its now yours,call in, in the next day or two and sign the paperwork,oh and would it be ok for you to leave a deposit?"That's just what i did!!!he never pushed me just told me what i wanted to know,and it was the best i could find anywhere so well pleased:j .
