Lost in the Post

I know things go missing once in a while, and touch wood, this is the first in a long time for me. I remember posting this item because it was a large child's sleeping bag and it was a bulky parcel that cost £5.30 to post as a standard parcel. I was glad to hand it over at the Post Office (little did I know, lol).
It got me thinking, what's the largest or most unusual item you have got lost in the post (doesn't have to be ebay, just curious).

I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:

Nearly every time i used standard parcels they went missing. I think the large items with no tracking are too much tempation for the postmen. I will never use it again.
I now use colelct plus - CHEAPER and TRACKED.
Some people don't like collect plus - but they have been great for me.0 -
Only ever had one cheap envelope of postcards go missing, but I've heard rumours on the community forums about a bed fetching up in the lost mail depot in Belfast."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I did once see a huge great rubber tyre being handed in over a post office counter (they refused it actually) merely had an address written in marker on the rubber and was insisting stamps be stuck on to it somehow.....If the PO had accepted that I'm quite sure that would have been abandoned somewhere the moment the marker pen rubbed off.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Well, my buyer still wants to wait for the item to arrive. I posted it on the 27th (which was a Saturday) as a Standard Parcel. I've stayed in communication with the buyer and told her to message me if it doesn't turn up and I will refund her. Not much else I can do, I suppose, just wait

It's only just over a week - I think there's a fair chance it could still arrive. SP seems to either be delivered very quickly or take over a week.0

Not lost, but I once sold a Care Bear alarm clock to a girl in the USA. Wrapped it within an inch of its life, got to the post office and as I stood in the queue realised the movement had jolted the clock and my parcel to the USA was now ticking....
This wasn't long after 9/11 either. Pleased to say it did arrive in one piece, though hopefully it had stopped ticking by the time it reached US shores

Could it be at the delivery office but in a different place to the normal parcels iykwim if it is a big parcel? I remember I went to collect a large parcel once and the guy was absolutely adamant that it wasn't there until I said it's going to be a huge box, so big (stretched my arms out to give the idea of size, lol) , and he said, yep, I know where it is and went and got it for me. He was very apologetic!0
