Can't find a general announcement on this just had an email from them.
From 5th Nov No more wildcards "*" , search strings down to a 100 characters... what next?
The single best database search engine on the internet about to blasted back to the Stoneage.
I have thousands of these searches set up.
Beyond annoyed. Total and utter !!!!!s.

I agree, this is the most rubbish change ever! Back to the stoneage indeed.
I emailed them back to ask how is this in any way an improvement, but - guess what? - no one replied.....

This has really annoyed me. Their excuse of "including more mis-spelled items" does not hold water. A simple example is for a 395 battery. I used to search 395 bat* which would include 395 bat, 395 batt, 395 battery and 395 batery. Doing a search for any of the above does not include all of them so I have to do a long search with all options included. Another of my saved searches had loads of -xxx* which usually yielded less than 2K results, it now gives 70K. Idiots :mad:0

Doesn't affect me particularly but it is an odd change. I can't see a monetary angle so perhaps it's just an attempt to get people to have better listing titles.
Do they have an official line as to why there is a change?.0
