what can i do now

Hi
After my mother died last year my youngest sister took over the administration of our mothers estate, against my eldest sisters wishes she sold off everything of value at her local auction house,we managed to buy some things on line but some lots where sold that were not on the internet, and what could not be sold was taken to the local dump according to her solicitor.
We have some idea as to how much money she received from the live auction only.
we did not know if our mother left a will as her home had the locks changed and we was not allowed to enter from the day my mother died.
In the first few months we all received emails from her solicitor right up to the day she sold everything then nothing. we wrote asking for details of bank accounts and savings etc, we received a reply "that it is up to my sister if she wanted to answer our emails".As he is not working for her he is only a postbox he passed on our emails to her for her to answer, when all the time we thought he was acting on the behalf of our sister.
She never paid any thing towards the cost of our mums funeral in fact she never came as she was holding her own.
we know our mum had no debts her bills was paid up she had a couple of hundred in the bank but we dont know if she had any money in other accounts or even life insurance.
Would it be worth going to see a solicitor just to find out what she really did if anything with the money, as i know she has to pay for the funeral and we have the invoices,we can only email her solicitor as we have sent letters signed for and he has never replied and if he has sent them on to her she feels she don't have to reply either.
any advice would be welcome thanks
