Buying car insurance online

Hello,

My Dad is wanting me to buy his car insurance for him online. I've got no experience of this (used confused.com and got a fantastic quote from Saga). However I am concerned that I am responsible for all the details being right etc and do they actually send you real paper documents that could be ammended if I entered something wrong or is it all online? Thanks

I insured my car with MoreThan, did it all online and they sent me the documents through the post. No hassles, no problem even when I realised I'd put the wrong reg in, asked them for a new certificate which they sent foc !!

As others have said, they will send documentation through the post. However the quote given from the site is based on the information given so, for example, if you put an incorrect number of years of no claims and it became apparent when the documentation was received through the post that this was input incorrectly, the premium may well change.

I have been using on line sites to do the initial leg work, before ringing the top 4-6 or so insurers to check all details, for about the last 5/6 years.

In that time I have NEVER had a quote that was given on-line be accurate by the time I have rung the companies and just run through everything !!!:confused:

I would therefore VERY strongly advise that you also follow up any initial research on the net with a call to the top XX insurers.

    i have used https://www.confused.com and https://www.insurancesupermarket.com.

btw last two years kwikfit have been the cheapest for me, though last year it took asking them to match another insurer to get them to undecut them by £10.00

hope this is of some help :D

Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying
  • Go to Quidco.com (money back site) set up an account if you do not already have one, and then go through Quidco to Prudential.

I also looked at confused.com and although Prudential were not the cheapest, you will get back £100 through Quidco. Try it, it works! You may have to set up a Quidco account in your father's name, so that there is no confusion and the cash back should go through within about 4 weeks.

My premium was £199 and I got back £100 - bargain!
