Well, maybe if it was something subject to change or even possible improvement, something like sciatica for instance, then the hardup GP might want to check. Or not.
But Alzheimers? In a 56 year old he's known for 35 years? And was a neighbour a long time ago? If he needs to check his notes he should be put out to the long grass.
Charges for signing forms and writing letters have to be standard. You can't not charge someone just because he used to be a neighbour!0 -
Dunroamin... the neighbour bit was about not needing to refer to notes in answer to the previous post.
One standard charge not related in any way to the work involved is the problem. That's doctors for you. And Solicitors. And all the other rip-off merchants deemed to be doyens of our rip-off society.
We bypass him now if we want anything signing. Her consultant does it for free. But then again some in the medical profession remember they are there to serve us and not use the vulnerable and poor as cash cows to fund their early retirement to the golf course.0 -
I have a relative who has had to get signatures and letters from her doctors recently. All they wanted her to do was make an appointment and they would be signed there and then for no charge (except the appointment charge which is being paid by the NHS anyways)0

When your receiving benefits you don't get enough to pay £i5 for a doctor's letter to say that you need a home visit or a taxi
I have to travel 17 miles to ATOS and I have to get a taxi as they wont pay for petrol I have arthritis from the top to the base of my spine, in both knee's, osteoarthritis in both hands even sitting in a car is painful ........ my friend is now in hospital as they stopped her money ,,,,,,,,,,,, I will be getting mine stopped as I can't afford to get there and on top they want you to ring 0845 numbers how the hell can people on benefits afford to keep ringing chargeable numbers and they keep you on hold for ages either that or your passed from one department to another0
